Every physically fit Korean men have a duty of servicing in the military for 21 months(23 months for Navy, 24 months for Air force).
It is reasonable because both South and North Korea are in armistice, need to prepare for unexpected situations.
If you look up the writes on Korean community websites or news, You can see lot of issues about Military service, corruptions.
Because it's not a choice to join the military, Some may think it is just great experience when you look back after get discharged, But Some can feel it as a compulsion, feeling voidness, standing on the bottom that have to start again when they realize that other males who have some reasons that couldn't join the military or Female university colleagues or females are already graduated or making money with a full time professional job.
So some people try to do evasion of Militray service by even pulling their teeth off to make deficiency that can lead to exemption of Military service
Also one more affection that i think is about the life in the military.
It is getting better now, there are violence and irrationality between soldiers. Seniors put hand on junior soldiers, sometimes those affects on soldiers leading to incidents like suicide, shooting sprees, desertions etc.
One other issue is the extra point system, which gives extra points to discharged soldiers when they take a test to become government employee.
It seems reasonable, Because most of Korean male spend almost 2 years in the Military and at the point when they got discharged, Female university colleagues or females are already graduated or making money with a full time professional job.
But at the point of view the people who couldn't have opportunities to serve in the Military, It is also understandable why they are asking revocation of the extra point system.
So how do you guys think about this problems? Are there great ideas for these?
